3 from MIT Sloan named to top women-led businesses in Massachusetts list
By
Three companies with MIT Sloan alumnae at the helm were named to the Boston Globe Magazine’s “2017 top 100 women-led businesses in Massachusetts” list.
The number of women-run businesses in the U.S. is small. In 2016, the number of Fortune 500 companies with women at the helm was only 21. This year, that number rose to 32.
At the same time, among Fortune 1000 companies, those with women CEOs between 2002 and 2014 produced equity returns 226 percent better than the S&P 500.
The Boston Globe Magazine partners with The Commonwealth Institute, a nonprofit devoted to advancing women as business leaders, to compile the annual list of the top organizations led by women in Massachusetts. This year’s list included organizations like Harvard University, Care.com (co-founded by MIT Sloan alumna Donna Levin), and Fidelity Investments.
